这道题C选项的解释是And basing it on … must come before the main verb in order to make this version a complete sentence.这句话看不懂什么意思啊，求解释！我当时做的时候是直接排除的C，这个选项中的三个因素不平行，且感觉and basing it on 稍显啰嗦，没有based on来的简洁有效，但是看了解释，偶的想法和OG的完全不一样啊，迷茫了~~

要抓句子主干。句子的主谓宾是 the Mochica developed their own elaborate society. 前头building on .... 是【V-ing短语】在句首，修饰主句主语，也就是the Mochica。而based on...是【V-ed形式】作定语，修饰前面紧邻名词society,作后置定语。但这些都只是修饰成分，并不影响主句的完整性。

而C的问题，在于用了个and。and表并列，而且需要前后的形式一致。如果后面是basing的话，就不可能和developed平行，只能和building平行。但没有这样，先一个修饰语，然后主句，再and连接另一个修饰语的。。and后面句子不完整，缺少谓语。
