答案是B，这个用now current 排除
但我不明白，OG上的解释上说必须用existed, 不能用had exist. 这个不大明白
这个an age when ice sheet应该在led 之前出现的，应该用过去完成时？

我觉得有3个原因，不一定对，就说出来咱们交流一下吧~
1. 过去完成时有一个要点：开始与过去+结束与过去（Manhattan）。本题中你看不到explicitly 表明是结束于过去的。【这是我最有把握的一点，现在发现这个很好用】
2.propose the concept of... 是一种类似实验，科研的表述，通常用一般时，不用完成时。
3.咱们平时说过去完成时要在过去的过去，但是led和exist没有一点点关系，不应该作为判断标准，要是找“过去的过去”也应该在相关的 in which great ice sheets had existed in now currently temperate areas.最后一句找~

RON说这个题，特别是非Native speaker来讲的话，光用时态判断是很难做出来的。。。。所以他建议大家不要过分纠结到底是过去完成时还是过去时，而是看看别的考点，因为别的有区别的点就已经可以做出来这道题，而不用凭着是哪个时态对才能做对这个题。 RON说外国人几乎很难理解这种时态的细微差别，建议大家focus别的地方。。。。所以大家别纠结啦。不看时态也能做出来。从副词的修饰，句子简单干练来下手
