查牛津字典➕manhattan+个人逐题理解8了一遍；
twice
只有adv一个词性、两个含义：1. two times （频次，两次）
2. double the quantity、rate、etc
验证twice选项的方法有如下3种：
<1>题目中只能作为 adv 修饰句子或词，是否修饰正确 ;（有的用成动词直接排除了）
<2>是否在twice as +adj/adv+ as+sb+（助动词可省）的结构里使用正确，常见错误有：比较对象错误、much/many可数不可数、应该用副词但用了形容词、赘余（例如 as quickly as the rate of）
<3>还有一个错误manhattan出现了，sth increased by twice in 3 years. 这个的问题我认为是有歧义；因为无法确定是"增加了两次”，还是“翻了两倍"。
Double
n/v/adv/adj/det：词性很多，用法灵活，所有选项需要搭配成分和意思看。
1.但需要注意：作为adv的时候，double的意思是“IN TOW PARTS 成双in twos or two parts”，这个非常非常tricky：例如【He wrote double the letters that Sara did】。这句话的错误是啥？double作为副词，修饰wrote ，意思更侧重于”他把sara的信写了两遍”，而非修饰信的数量是两倍。同理还有字典里的其他例句：【I thought I was seeing double】看重影；【bend double】弯大腰，等等。
所以如果句子已有动词，需要表达加倍的时候，用double需要非常注意修饰的对象。
2.其他n/v/adj/det都是可以表达两倍或加倍：例如
【His income is double hers】
【He earns/pays double what she does】
接下来是对三个著名例题的个人见解；（每句主语加粗）
1. A survey by the National Council of Churches showed that in 1986 there were 20,736 female ministers, almost 9 percent of the nation’s clergy, twice as much as 1977.
A. twice as much as 1977 （主语是人，比较对象1977，错）
B. twice as many as 1977 （主语是人，比较对象1977，错）
C. double what it was in 1977 （it 指？因为明确double的是两个数字，要么是20736，要么是9，而非其他任何成分；it those that these 必须指代前文句子中的名词性成分，其他全错）
D. double the figure for 1977
E. a number double that of 1977's （a number 可作同位语，同位语需要紧挨修饰成分，that of 1977‘s两个错，代词无指代，1977所有格重复使用，前文如果有population of 1986，才能判对）
The number of people flying first class on domestic flights rose sharply in 1990, doubling the increase of the previous year.
a. doubling the increase of （doubling看出用的是动词，其实用double 我个人觉得也正确，因为n/det 的词性它有且意思正确）
b. doubling that of the increase in （that of 和the crease in 冗余）
c. double as much as the increase of （double 不和 as as 连用）
d. twice as many as the increase in (many 错；twice 是副词，修饰rise；如果合成一句应该 number rose twice as sharply as the number of the previous year (did); the increase 放在这，前后对象也错了）
e. twice as many as the increase of （同上）
According to surveys by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, about 20 percent of young adults used cocaine in 1979, doubling those reported in the 1977 survey.
(A) doubling those reported in the 1977 survey (句子想表达的是20 percent的两倍，非yonung adults的两倍，those不对 ）
(B) to double the number the 1977 survey reported （不定式表目的，含义不对先排除）
(C) twice those the 1977 survey reported (同A）
(D) twice as much as those reported in the 1977 survey (同A）
(E) twice the number reported in the 1977 survey （改正确了 the figure 更好） |
