关于这道题看了很多很多解释,也很明白题目的意图
但是还有些其他疑问希望得到解决,不知道大家有没有注意到OG中的D选项
Neuroscientists have amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.

OG当中对于D选项的解释
The final descriptor in present tense, now drawing conclusions … does not fit the opening clause, which is in present-perfect tense (have amassed a wealth …) and seems to modify adulthood.

前半句没有任何疑问,但是黑体字部分我就confuse了
subject+ have done +object, ing ......

The Glass House Mountains in Queensland, Australia, were sighted in 1770 by the English navigator Captain James Cook, naming them supposedly since their sheer wet rocks glistened like glass.

这里OG解释的口径好像又不同了
As the object of a preposition and not the subject of the clause, James Cook does not work as the noun that the verbal phrase beginning with naming can describe; the preposition since loses the important causal logic of the sentence.

这里的naming为什么就不能作为就近修饰呢?

我实在无法理解

望得到满意的解释
并且帮我区分一下到底V-ing什么时候修饰主语,什么时候会有就近修饰的歧义

明白了为什么DE不对,可就是对og上D的解释很困惑,为什么og上说这里的now drawing是修饰adulthood?
V-ing做伴随不是有两种用法吗
1.表结果,没有逻辑主语,即修饰前面整句
2.伴动作,即逻辑主语就是该分次主语,与主语发生的动作同时发生

先要赞一下,能问到这个程度至少说明懂得很多了~加油!
之前也深究过类似问题,关于-ing分词到底是先做状语还是先做定语,什么时候有会引起歧义。有些懂了,有些先放下以后再说,放着放着就懂了。
根据jaze同学对GWD2-Q4的解答:V-ing(present participle)
修饰:2)
放在句子末尾时,如果前面是主谓宾结构,如果同时时态上与主句搭配不合理,V-ing结构作定语修饰前面名词。
以上语法点说明如果-ing的时态和主句不同,那么就只能做定语修饰紧接在前面的名词。

此外,“subject+ have done +object, ing ......

但是,我始终没有理解什么叫做does not fit the opening clause,找了半天也没查到什么是opening clause)

关于楼主的这个问题:“这里OG解释的口径好像又不同了
As the object of a preposition and not the subject of the clause, James Cook does not work as the noun that the verbal phrase beginning with naming can describe; the preposition since loses the important causal logic of the sentence.这里的naming为什么就不能作为就近修饰呢?”

这里不是说为什么不能就近修饰,而是确实产生了歧义。又能作状语又能作定语的-ing分词是我们必须排除的(但是在某些非修饰语考点的题里也能找到例外,要辩证~)
举个例子OG
105.
Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, capitalized on her keen observation and love of the natural world.
(A) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives,
(B) In her book illustrations, carefully coordinating them with her narratives, Beatrix Potter
(C) In her book illustrations, which she carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter
(D) Carefully coordinated with her narratives, Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations
(E) Beatrix Potter, in her book illustrations, carefully
coordinated them with her narratives and
选项A和B之所以错很关键就是因为-ing分词即可做定语又可做状语,从而产生了歧义。

讲了这么多,可能有不对或不到位的地方,还望大牛们指正!
复习SC这么久了,还是会有很多很多很多不懂的地方,今天做GWD8里18道SC就错了8道,真是要绝望了~
但是还是要坚持!加油!共勉共勉齐努力~!!
