[求助]XDF-sc3-24

I don't know why the answer is B, because if B is the right answer, then the civilization is going to be compared with the city, the comparison which is not parallel in my opinion. So is there anyone who can help me out? Another doubt about this question is that why use ancient instead of old? Isn't old ok with this circumstance?

24. In his eagerness to find a city worthy of Priam, the German archaeologist Schliemann cut through Troy and uncovered a civilization a thousand years older as was the city Homer’s heroes knew.

(A) older as was the city Homer’s heroes knew

(B) more ancient than the city known to Homer’s heroes

(C) older than was the city known to Homer’s heroes

(D) more ancient of a city than Homer’s heroes knew

(E) older of a city than was the one known to Homer’s heroes

从未划线部分来看,find a city与uncovered a civilization是对应的。so i think it's fine.

Another doubt about this question is that why use ancient instead of old?

ancient表达更精确吧, 古老。

罗兄,你说从从未划线部分来看,find a city与uncovered a civilization是对应的。我不太明白,这里因为有一个more....than....的结构,所以如果B是正确答案,那么than前后的就应该是平行的了,但than前后却分别是civilization和city,这个和你说的find a city与uncovered a civilization没有什么直接的联系呀?

从题目的角度来看,we don't have other choices,所有的选项都是city.
