interview邀请邮件里只说聊 a few minutes，怎么个情况

目前收到了两个interview，都感觉有点诡异和出乎意料。虽然收到interview还是比较高兴，可是这种困惑的状况让我有点小忐忑。有经验的过来人能帮我分析下这是什么状况吗？

感觉版上的面经里大家的面试都聊得时间不短，甚至还有几个老师轮番轰炸的情况。可我收到的面试邮件，老师都只是说聊 a few minutes或者是brief talk呢？这是肿么个情况？老师到底对我感兴趣还是不感兴趣呢？

具体说，就是最近收到GaTech的ITM系director发来的邮件，说我的材料被review过，老师们还都很感兴趣，想和我further talk。我就很高兴，看了几天我比较感兴趣的几个老师的论文。但是今天收到一个完全没研究过，而且兴趣明显和我PS里说的不相符的一个教授的邮件，我查了下他的资料发现是一个associate dean，而且是几年都没发文章的老professor。他问我什么时候有时间可以进行一个a few minutes talk。我就有点懵了，估计可能又是走个程序化的过场吧。请问各位有经验的人，这种无意义的面试是什么情况呢？是一个比较positive的信号呢还是比较negative呀？

那都是说话的习惯或者口头语啥的，你揪这些小词没意思，根本根录取你的可能性没关系。

我一开始也是这么觉得，但是之前的一个interview，老师说brief talk，真的只和我聊了不到10分钟，问了几个相当走过场的问题~

i highly agree with lz, my 1st interview s soooo brief. the prof even talked about local weather. While the second one is professional. 2 profs in a group. they asked questions about my research projects.

In the meantime, I am GT alumni. Best luck to be a Yellow Jacket!!!

Hi~ Very glad to see your reply~ It's great to know someone also has the same confusion. For your 1st interview, I think talking about local weather is a positive signal. Have they give you the offer yet?
Are you applying to Information System program?
The old professor is Narasimhan~~

No worries, my first interview was even about street in Hong Kong....... where of Hong Kong do I live? talk about hotel he stayed when he was in HK bla bla bla, I was scared too, but then I have a second interview.

Haha, your conversation sounds a very relaxed and happy one. Usually a good signal. If mine was like this, I won't worry much。During my interview, the professor went through several really formal questions like he's reading a list...

they have not reply me. I was interviewed in this week. i applied finance phd. while i think that should be an Indian prof. just take care about his accent. in the management school, finance is the biggest dept. Eun is the director. Prof Chava is the most valuable prof. he publish 2-3 papers every year. I dont know much about the mis. But I know that there r 5 phd in finance n accounting r from china. but the size of the program s very small. they accept 0-2 students every year. they may not hire students in finance this year. I have already contacted prof. Eun.
