88. Claim: Nations should suspend government funding for the arts when significant numbers of their citizens are hungry or unemployed.

Reason: It is inappropriate—and, perhaps, even cruel—to use public resources to fund the arts when people's basic needs are not being met.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.

Someone claims that nations should not fund for the arts when significant numbers of citizens are not satisfied with basic living substances, which base the reason that public resources should not be used to fund arts when people's basic needs are not being met. He or she goes to the extreme that governments should stop funding arts if not all the citizens' basic needs are been meet. But In my view, it is hard to satisfy all the citizens' basic needs even a nation suspend funding art because of the complicate situation the poor and the society faces, and government should decrease but not suspend the fund for the arts.

In the first place, some people are hungry and unemployed because of their nature characteristics of laziness, which could not easily changed by funding public resources to them by society or government. Think about a idle person who do noting all day but just sleep and play for the purpose of killing time, who can't find a job not because the poor situation of economy but the unwillingness to work, who lack of enthusiasm for life. Not conspicuous effect would come out when society and government fund them at the cost of suspending the arts.

Second, it is hard for a nation to get rid of all the hungry and unemployed, and it is normal that a society contains a significant numbers of unemployed people. The government should enhance the quality of economy and basic education to solve these commonly exist social problems such as hungry, unemployed, low-wedged.

Suspend fund for arts may not a good way to solve these social problems in that there are significant number of people who devoted to arts and need a government to fund him or her in sustaining their work. If a government suspends the funds of them for the reason of some citizens' hungry, another group of people would emerge and become the ones hungry and unemployed.

However, it is not to say that a government should not decrease the fund for arts as the reasons mention above. Considering the harmony and wending of a society, it may be good for nations to increase the basic funds for solve these social problems when decrease the fund for arts. For example, a government could use the fund to train citizens who are hungry and unemployed to acquire basic live skills.

In conclude, nations should decrease but not suspend the fund for arts.(408)

It would take along time for me to go through in detail because you have a lot of small grammar mistakes. Don't worry everything takes time and overall it was good.

How do you know when to use the indefinite articles? The choice of article is actually based upon the phonetic (sound)  quality of the first letter in a word, not on the orthographic (written)  representation of the letter. If the first letter makes a vowel-type  sound, you use "an"; if the first letter would make a consonant-type  sound, you use "a." However, you may follow these basic rules when deciding to use "a" or "an," remembering that there are some exceptions to the rules.
"A" goes before words that begin with consonants.
  • a cat
  • a dog
  • a purple onion
  • a buffalo
  • a big apple
"An" goes before words that begin with vowels:
  • an apricot
  • an egg
  • an Indian
  • an orbit
  • an uprising
ExceptionsUse "an" before unsounded "h." Because the "h" hasn't any phonetic representation and has no audible sound, the sound that  follows the article is a vowel;  consequently, "an" is used.
  • an honorable peace
  • an honest error
When "u" makes the same sound as the "y" in "you," or "o" makes the same sound as "w" in "won," then a is used. The word-initial "y" sound ("unicorn") is actually a glide [j]  phonetically, which has consonantal properties; consequently, it is  treated as a consonant, requiring "a."
  • a union
  • a united front
  • a unicorn
  • a used napkin
  • a U.S. ship
  • a one-legged man
