OG对C的解释是表达 wordy 有没有更具体的解释呢？

when use"unlike", the comparison has to be grammatical and logical. in A choice, compared the conviction to Barbara McClintock, hence, A is wrong. B,C,E choices use "being" ( wordy). Hope this can help.

首先得承认D的句子的确写的好；B/C/E 读起来感觉就是不顺。
LZ可以试着读一遍D在读一遍B.
对比得出
B Were of the conviction VS D were convinced
会不会觉得D 选项在用词上：直接使用动词比名词更加有力，且句意强调被说服。。。。

同时B/C/E 都出现了Being，但我个人不觉的这个being分词有什么其他用，如果紧紧表达“是”的系动词意思话，用were 就好。并且WERE 的时态，结构，用词都和句子未划线部分平行对称。

正确答案我是选出来了，没有异议，只不过我是不知道到底该怎么说错误的原因，这道题我指的是C

C 也使用到BEING... 感觉不对，理由在上面我的贴有说啊。
貌似being 不是什么好的表达方式，OG12-52 E选项being错啦

D 选项的 that genes were，为什么是过去式呢，难道不应该是表示常态的are么?

一般现在时表示的是真理. 但是这个句子里面表达的意思明显是错的, 不是真理. 不能用are.

首先必须说BCE中都有n.+being+adj.结构，awkward.这个记住就好了，n.+being+done,there being都是见到就错得awkward，因为be动词本来就是表示当前的状态，being在这两种情况下都是故意的啰嗦。
其次，A用了unlike，要求比较对象对等，conviction和BM显然不对等；
最后，关于that后宾语从句的时态，第一were convinced的是曾经被认可的老观点，显然不是真理，不能用一般现在时；第二，时态呼应用一般过去时。
