答案是D。想问一下E错在哪里，causing和making平行，spreading of the flames作为名词和ignition平行啊？

ＴＨＥ错了

ＳＰＲＥＡＤＩＮＧ也不是可以和ＩＧＮＩＴＩＯＮ平行的，一为动作，一为状态

the为什么错了呢？

spreading不能和ignition平行的话，D中easier不也无法和to spread 平行吗？

the出现的很贸然，在这个地方只能是表特指才说得过去，但是前面又没提到flames，那这个the 就多余了。

感觉the spreading of flames甚至还要好一点

ETS的平行有的时候不是很死的，建议楼主参照og-204加深对平行的认识

是不是还因为没有cause sth adj的用法，而只有cause sth to do 的用法，所以E这里也不对呢？

E选项应该和后面的more quickly联系起来:causing spreading of the flames more quickly

这样的话,quicly修饰的是cause,不是spread,这就不对啦

好象是很老的贴子了……

Anyway，我的看法是：ＧＭＡＴ里面，如果-ing形式单独出现，是当作分词；如果是be doing，当作进行时；如果是the/a doing，才视为动名词。

Ｅ项里的spreading是分词，而这里缺的是名词，所以要改成causing the spreading of flames.

我的问题是：Ａ项为什么不对？making ignition much easier and (making) flames spreading more quickily...

正好在找了这题，挖坟了 ~

A的话 make sth doing 搭配错。
