答案是E。做也做对了，但是想不通那个render harmless什么意思啊？这里render应该是动词，而harmless是形容词，不可能修饰render。那么它修饰什么呢？难道是用来修饰chemical?读不通啊

个人是这么想的，你把后面的那个the chemical irritant放到render和harmless中间，也就是render the chemical irritant harmless，使得这种化学刺激物无害。

谢谢分析！但是偶还是不明白，那个“the chemical irritant”前面有个the，说明应该是前面提过的化学物，但是前面只有dioxin和酶两种化学物，好像都不太对的上。。。。
