答案是A。为什么可以省略那么多呢？我选的是C。
想请问C不对，是因为这里的they有指代不清的嫌疑么？

they指代混淆，既可以指代babies也可指代women，所以不妥。
正确答案也可改成to those under it. 比较中心是women的age，所以to those 可以省略直接就是than under it.

CD是一个呃众说纷纭的地方。所以还是要多看帖子，才能找到正解的。

很多筒子说是年龄的比较。所以是 over the age of 30 vs. under it.

但其实我觉得是比较的不同年龄的两群女性。所以全句补齐是：more babies were born to women over the age of thirty than to women under it (the age of thirty),相同部分为 to women省略掉。

有细微的不同。

个人见解。期待NN们的解释哈~

C的话就应该是指代不清吧，前面有两个不同的复数名词时后面再用they them 往往是指代混乱所以不选的。。。。。。。。

都说的是一类人women，只是年龄不同，当然可以省略
