Hello my friend. Yes this is quite common—many of our friends (from China especially) have some trouble with this aspect of the applications. So here are some general pointers for you. The first thing that may need to go might be an introduction. If you are spending a few sentences setting up your essay, that may have to go away. We tell all our clients to start essays in the middle of everything anyway. It makes for more compelling reading. The next thing to strip away might be any information about people…other than YOU. Background in stories, other information—anything that doesn’t tie to you specifically might be “empty calories,” so to speak. And finally, consider taking out adjectives, adverbs—stick to the FACTS. If your writing is clear, you wont need such describing words, since your sentences will describe the information without these additional modifiers. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!
