last year离修饰成分太远，而且provide这个动作是过去发生的，怎么能用现在完成时呢

我觉得，现在完成时和过去式都没有影响。
过去式表动作已结束，现在完成时表示对现在的影响。题意没有交代，两个皆可吧。

现在看来。
E中，last year，在句首，修饰整句，而后来and may thus force是现在的状态，与此处时间状语矛盾。

所以，应将last year 收入 provided的句内，表示disintegration 为去年发生。

非NN，纯属愚见。。
