原句是错的呀,改成下面才对:
He received a medal for [the SINKING of ]an enemy ship and the CAPTURE of its crew.
括号部分为复杂动名词complex gerund phrase

2、动名词：
简单动名词，：Tracking satellites accurately is important for the space agency
简单的动名词有着名词的外表却有一颗动词的心

复杂动名词（含有修饰成分，经常是前面加一个冠词，和of的介词短语）,

每一种都可以自己平行的Nouns分类:

简单动名词不能和复杂动名词平行。且只有复杂动名词才能和动作名词平行。

3、如果一个动词有具体的名词形式，就不要用动名词，如extract就有名词extraction

名词强调结果，动名词强调过程。如果是表示结果的话，用名词当然更好啦。
