我想问的是 could 不是在表示委婉语气时，可以替代can吗？也就是说不会和remains冲突啊
此外，为什么would find 不对呢？would就是表示虚拟语气呀，为什么一定要用完成时的虚拟语气不能用一般时的虚拟语气呢？

由于原文带有虚拟语气的意思：“即便他们买得起家务用具”，所以在这里 even if 要好于 although 和 despite。

would have done 虚拟语气，表示“本应该干什么，但是没有干..."

与其说grandparents是指这些人的祖父母，不如说是泛指他们的前几辈（现在已经过世的那些人），即“他们的祖父母（如果在世的话）本应会认为是不可思议的”

注意区分although和even if的区别，although是转折，even if是让步。

本句表达让步含义“即使...也...”，首先排除although选项。

对过去动作的虚拟，应该用would have done。
