OG说 AB中 this sentence explains a hypothetical situation and therefore calls for a conditional----or contrary-to fact------construction.
可是我还是想不明白为什么要用虚拟语气would啊。。

曼哈顿上面讲 hypothtical subjunctive 的部分给的例句是
To overcome m fear of germs, I will think about disease as though it WERE harmless. 主要是说后面这部分与真实情况相反所以用了WERE

抛开后面这部分不看如果按照OG的解释 I will think 不是要改成 I would think 么？

不定式开头后面就要用虚拟？啊。。我凌乱了。。求各位帮忙啊~~/(ㄒoㄒ)/~~ /(ㄒoㄒ)/~~ (┳＿┳)...

补充一下虽然知道AB的错误可以通过其他的点排除但就是这个 would 想不明白

不定式开头你看作用，这句中to。。。。是表目的的，也就是说为了做某事，demographers要怎么怎么样，因此要用虚拟语气。
