不理解past/present的解释啊，难道不是被动和主动的问题么？？

spawned指的是生长蔓延的意思吧~就是说some 10,000 years ago 的时候长的（注意ago，所以用过去时，in the past）~~鉴于the
largest and oldest living organism on Earth~说明现在还在扩展中即extend~用extending表示到现在还在长~（continues into the present ）~~spawn和extend都表示主动~只不过spawn发生在过去~

这个好像就是并列结构吧，与前面的 is an interwoven filigree并列，省略is直接extending

恩，extending这边理解了，谢谢啦~
那这里是-ed和-ing作定语吧？那就是说，-ed和-ing作定也可以暗示发生的时间喽？
另外，再弱弱地问一下：
spawned后面有 by a single fertilized spore呀，不正好表示被动么？
spawned这里还是有一点点晕……

应该也有被动的意思~ 有被动+过去时~用spawned~没有矛盾的~
extending表现在还在继续~并且是个主动的动作~

我刚刚复习到这题,尝试回答一下LS吧,
根据OG12的解释,
1) Parallelism: spawned…and extending…为平行结构, 都是用来修饰 rootlike tentacles
2) Verb form:spawn 动作发生在10,000年前, 用过去式; extend 动作持续到现在, 用进行时

原句是说科学家最近发现了一个东西, 是世界上最大,最古老的活体器官, a giant fungus...是个同位语吧?
that 引导定语从句修饰 fungus, 定语从句就说这个东西由2部分构成mushrooms and rootlike tentacles,
接着就是用spawned…and extending…的平行结构作后置定语修饰rootlike tentacles
