比较问题很纠结，望NN指点

(A)Heating-oil prices are expected to be higher this
year than last because refiners are paying about
$5 a barrel more for crude oil than they were
PREP语法笔记里面写
主系表结构的比较与主谓结构相同。如果时态不一致，则需补出助词，如：

The economy of Florida is more diversified than it was ten years ago

这题没有补出

还有一题
Stock levels for domestic crude oil are far lower than in past years, leaving domestic oil prices vulnerable to any hints of oil supply disruptions in the Middle East or any unexpected growth in consumer demand that might be prompted by colder-than-normal temperatures.
也没有补出。
但是很多题目里面又是有补出的，到底是要补出还是不要？

还有一道OG VERBAL 题目
A study commissioned by the Department of Agriculture showed that if calves exercise and associate with other calves, they require less medication and gain weight more quickly than those raised in confinement.
这题按语法分析，不是应该是more quickly than do those 吗，但是OG上明显说了，加上do不对

请NN指点！！！

关于比较，我只能说当涉及主语的比较时才要考虑助动词的补出

我觉得是因为前面已经体现出this year, last year的对比所以没加。

这句话我表示质疑的。我觉得不用补吧，例子很多，只是状语和状语比较。

最后一题

我觉得e理论上是要补do的，不然会有weight 和those比较的歧义。
但没有这样的选项选项a，选项d要补的话补will 选项c既过去又将来没办法补。
所以感觉e虽然不好，但也没办法，只能e了。

这句话是PREP上的话，是有很多的反例，但是也有很多的符合的句子，我觉得比较合理的解释是补出或者不补出要具体分析，但不知怎么分析。
另外上面一题的E选项，我也觉得是需要补出的，但是OG给出的解释是The comparison is between calves and those (referring to another setof calves); the verb do ungrammatically interrupts the comparison and should be eliminated.
E Correct. In this sentence, the verbs are allin the present ten se; an adverb correctly modifies the verb phrase; and the
comparison is logical and grammatically correct.

所以就让我很不解

我只能猜测一下
会不会因为倒装的关系，把do写在了those的前面。
于是也引起了一个歧义变成了gain weight 和 do those的比较了

刚看完manhattan比较那一章，提供一点思路~
用经典例子翻译下manhattan的讲解：
Jim eats more apples than you. 错！因为这里的you既可能做宾语也可以做主语，ambiguous！
是Jim eats more apples than you do呢？还是Jim eats more apples than Jim eats you呢？
所以我的个人理解是，到底比较后半部分的动词能不能省呢，关键是看省了以后有没有歧义，那什么算有歧义什么算没有歧义呢？就例如上例，后面的那个名词有可能做主语也有可能做宾语~
但LZ给的那个题目中，（精简一下，便于比较）they gain weight more quickly than those raised in confinement.
注意这里比较的是quickly这个副词，显然跟those连词性都不同，自然不会造成误解，those在这里就是做主语，那处于简洁考虑就不需要补出动词了。
但是，举个可能不恰当的例子，如果变成they gain more weight than those raised in confinement .问题来了~问题出在哪里呢？LZ可以自己分析一下~
个人见解哈，比较类题目我也经常错，希望NN指正~

你的解答挺有道理，不过好像没见过这样的用法，倒装好像都i eat more apples than do you ，好像也没有歧义。
