我选了C，答案是E，为啥呀？

<1> on earth是修饰indications的，应放在indication后，C选项将其放在句首修饰整句，导致句意ridiculous，在地球上是这样，莫非在月球、在火星上情况不是这样？
<2> 非划线部分应该就近修饰the rate at which trees grow的，C选项却修饰the surest indications of sunspot cycles，导致句意不符合逻辑。
<3> 例如：
Among the tallest students in the class are Tom, Jerry, and Mike.
Tom, Jerry, and Mike are among the tallest students in the class.
个人感觉GMAT更喜欢前者。

1、逗号之后的内容修饰the rate at which trees grow，
2、主语是the rate at which trees grow
