比较句中的省略问题，求救！

The animosity between those who regulate and those who are regulated has never been more pronounced than in recent debates.
请问这句话是不是因为比较的两个部分主谓相同所以省略了主谓，只留下作状语的介词短语呀？
那如果补充出来，是变成than it has么？？？

lz看得太复杂了省略型比较就看一个，比较对象明确不下面这个句子：
Employment costs rose 2.8 percent in the 12 months that ended in September, slightly less than they did in the year that ended in the previous quarter.若没有they did 比较对象就补明确了，可能与宾语2.8 percent比较了最好补出，
但是这个句子：
,Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending in the presidential campaign of 1992, a greater proportion than in any previous election，可以省略，很名且是与proportion 比较，并且使动者是主句的本身对象不变，就可以省略，
lz这道题，没有宾语，没有其它对象，并且是自己比自己，animosity ，就可以省略，但是一般来说不省略也挺好不错，至于你说得变成than it has 应该也是对的，但是没有必要，不需要补出，只有svo比较的时候为了避免歧义，才加上s+助动词（动词）以和宾语比较区别
