因为B中的to heat是修饰electricity，而文中的意思是修饰energy

个人理解: 原句可以抽象为：sb. has succeeded for the first time (in mining...) to do sth.

我觉得这题就是要你区分到底是平行还是目的

如果用producing的话，就是和mining平行。如此句子结构就变成

Scientists succeeded in minging heat and producing energy. ------平行的话也是share 相同的主语，再化简下就是：sb mine and produce，not makes sense

可是如果用to produce的话，就是Scientists succeeded in minging heat to produce energy. 这个才是make sense.

所以个人觉得这里应该用”目的性的，而不是平行“，，只是想说当心”假平行“，平行需要”grammar，logic meaning“都平行才行

句义还是相当重要的，到底是否意思平行，就是靠句子判断

to heat 是修饰Scientists的，Scientists是 to heat 的逻辑主语，Scientists (mine...and produce...) to heat... and for sth to be done（do sth for sth to be done用法应该不合规矩，可能错在这里）
而句子愿意应该是Scientists mine...to(目的） produce energy（noun）+ enough for (noun modifier)
