我觉得有2个原因： 1、这里用smoothly和perfetly修饰SHAPED是没有错的，反而wings are shaped so smooth and perfect that是有问题的，除非改成，Smooth and perfect，wings are shaped by....
2、同时对C的时态也表示怀疑，因为看未划线部分Since the 1930’s aircraft manufacturers [have tried] to build airplanes with frictionless wings, shaped so smoothly and perfectly that the air passing over them [would not become] turbulent。后半部分这明显是个虚拟语气，即还没有实现的梦想，所以那个are 感觉上是有问题的。而A回避了这个问题。
C. 副词修饰shaped --- are shaped so smoothly and perfectly. in B) wings, wings so smooth and so perfectly shaped smooth 修饰 noun wings, and perfectly 修饰 shaped.

I meant : (C) wings that are shaped so smooth and perfect 1.shaped so smoothly and perfectly is correct, but shaped so smooth and perfect is not. 2. ' that' refers to airplans or wings ? it is ambguous.
B) wings, wings so smooth and so perfectly shaped B doesn't have this problem. smooth modifies wings and perfectly modifies shaped.
