[讨论]问两道语法，见讨论一下代词的指代问题

For many people, household labor remain demanding (even if able to afford household appliances their grandparents would find a miracle.)

C. even if they can afford household appliances their grandparents would have found miraculous

这是正确答案。感觉they的指代很奇怪，从意思上说一定是指people，但是从语法上说我觉得应该是指labor。
另外想借这题讨论一下代词的指代，记得新东方说过代词不一定是就近指代，并列句中从句代词应优先指代主句的主语。所以我觉得they是指labor. 还有一种说法是一个句子如果出现两个代词应指同一东西（有这种说法么）那么their parents的their 和第一个they就应该指代同一个东西。这样可以判断出答案，是这样么？
最后摆脱那位大虾分析一下句子的结构，最后的their garndparents......是做什么成分，修饰什么的？

再来一道题：

Margaret Courtney-Clarke has traveled to remote dwelling in the Transvaal to photopragh the art of Ndebele women, (whose murals are brilliantly colored, their geometrical symmetries embellished with old and new iconography and in a style that varies from woman to woman and house to house.)

这就是答案。their后面引导的是独立主格结构。和whose从句并列，所以their是修饰mural的，是这么理解么？

哎，既然来了就再回答一点点吧

首先，楼主，关于代词的优先指代是有道理的，但是这里，一，FOR MANY这个不是从句吧，而是结构吧，所以从句的单词优先指代不从谈起，二，注意，楼主你看一下这个句子的逻辑意思，这个句子的意思是，对很多人来，雇佣保姆仍然是显得很奢侈的（demanding就是苛刻的意思）即使他们能买的起许多他们祖先可能认为是奇迹的高档用品。从逻辑意思的角度，不可能是保姆买什么什么吧。

其次，关于相同代词指代相同的东西问题，我可以明确说，完全正确？为什么，因为GMAT的规则就是不能有歧义，如果相同的代词指代不同的对象，那就有歧义了

三，是的，定语从句，因为appliance做宾语，所以that省略

四，大家需要记住一个问题虽然宾语从句叫从句，但是从本质上来说是结构，所以这个题目是是三个结构的并列，中间那个是独立主格结构
