看了OG官解更加不明白的一道题。。。

之前就质疑为什么B后面木有that of有NN解释说这里的double是动词，使。。。加倍。。。
好不容易信服了。。。
大家看OG对与D的解释。。。：

wrong, it is less clear and graceful than B.

饿。。。那就是说应该是后面跟that of的啊啊啊啊啊啊啊！！！
double不是动词啊有没有！！！
求解答。。。快考了啊。。。

但如果用从句：expectation that personal spending，而不用expectation of personal spending，就不需要that of 这个结构了，也就更加简洁。

B中expectations后跟that引导的定语从句，double是动词，做谓语，楼主理解正确。
D中expectation of后跟一个名词词组加上这个名词词组的修饰语。其中doubling是动名词，修饰personal spending。个人觉得doubling后面的that of应该多余了。

有NN出手详解么？

但如果用从句：expectation that personal spending，而不用expectation of personal spending，就不需要that of 这个结构了，也就更加简洁。

如果D中的that of指代的是expectation of的话，那根B就不同了，B中double的是rate，不是expectation

personally speaking , i believe the contrast between both of them is "rate" instead of "expectation",thus, the answer of "that of " can excluded, in addiation, the answer C obviously is wrong, thereby we can draw to the conclusion of B

我觉得选B的三个理由
1. expectation这个词，是对未来的预测。像OG讲的一样, Since expectations look to the future but are not yet realized, the relative clause explaining these expectations should be conditional, employing the auxiliary verb would. 也就是说这里考点是动词时态 Verb form, 应该用 would + （more than看作是一个副词结构）+ 动词原形。这里would是虚拟语气还是will的过去式表达？我也不得甚解，请各位拍砖。
如果用D，这种conditional的陈述就无从体现了。
2. 正如 ran2010zx所说的that of 指代的是expectation of， double the expectation 逻辑上讲不通。应该是double the rate才好。
3. 过长的of doing 结构没有定语从句that 在句子结构上简洁
