Scientists have recently discoveed what could be the largest and oldest living organism on Earth, a giant fungus that is an interwoven filigree of mushrooms and rootlike tentacles spawned by a single fertilized spore some 10,000 year ago and extending for more than 30 acres in the soil of a Michigan forest. A.extending OG的解释:this sentence has the participles spwaned and extending in a correct parallel construction. Spwaned refers to something that happened in the past, while extending refers to something that continues into the present. 分词平行是没有问题,但是怎么感觉这里不应该用时态的问题来解释过去分词和现在分词呢,感觉应该用主动与被动来解释。spawned by a single fertilized spore 表明spawned这个动作是被动的,应该是用过去分词形式;而extend是主动延伸,那么就应该用现在分词形式了。如果按照OG的解释,意思就是说在现在时态里面分词都应该是-ing而过去时态里面分词都应该是-ed了?不是这样吧。 求拍砖,指教,详解。
participle 表示的不是时态的意思吧!我记得好像是一种动词形式 participle noun [C] the form of a verb that usually ends in 'ed' or 'ing' and is used to form some tenses and as an adjective:
In the sentences 'He's sleeping' and 'I've already eaten', the words 'sleeping' and 'eaten' are both participles.
非常感谢各位大大的解释,对分词平行的理解也和各位说的差不多。 participle是分词的意思,我指的用时态解释是这段话Spwaned refers to something that happened in the past, while extending refers to something that continues into the present. 这话不就是说因为是发生在过去的所以用过去分词spwaned,发生在现在所以用extending吗。我觉得这里应该是用主动和被动来解释呢, 而不是用发生在过去和发生在现在来解释。

理解上面这位大大的说法,但是是否也可以给出这样一个例子,属于现在时态,但是由于主动和被动的关系,使用并列的过去分词和现在分词同时来修饰主语。 A There is a moive , watched by viewers continously and showing its popularity. 自己编的一个句子……
