答案选C，可是我觉得选B
选C的话，BUT后面根本没有主句啊，这不是错了吗？求大家分析~

C中的that引导的是一个宾语从句，这句话的agree引导两个并列的宾语从句，只不过平时我们习惯的并列宾语从句用and连接，而这个句子表转折用了but连接。

B错在：for doing需被to do替换表目的；whether而不是whether or not引导宾语从句表'是否'。

B 后面的is肯定不对，比较前后的东西不平行。
but我也不确定，觉得此处做连词的话，应该是因为要平行。

whether or not和whether用法完全不同的：http://www.writersblock.ca/tips/monthtip/tipapr96.htm，如果用汉语表示，前者约等于“不管”，后者等于“是否”。

这道题比较有争议：
B 选项whether or not, 意思是不管，这样翻译是有问题的，语义不对；另外need for doing这个用法也不太好
但是
C that多余了,如果加that表示agree 的宾语，那么语义有问题。研究者同意...，但是同意...明显不好

综上所言，我认为该选B，毕竟need for doing也是可以的，whether or not与whether 某种程度都对

B后面的IS确实是错的，因为这里是主系表结构，根据白勇的书上讲，可以不补is.
但CDE的that加上后，如果理解为和前面that平行，意思实在不通。。如果是but做连词讲，那么肯定不对。
B 中的for doing 和whether or not 我觉得是不是相对错误啊？
我记得之前做prep时也有的题可以选择whether or not。

C项加了that意思也没有问题吧：researchers同意研究针对心脏病人新的疗法很重要，但是也同意还需要更多研究来证明在某疗法之前加上超声波是不是更好；
个人觉得这个but只是过渡一下，前后两个东西不是完全的顺接，但也不是180度的转折；貌似阅读和逻辑里也经常见到这种类似递进的but？

即使whether or not可以，那也不如whether简洁（当然前提是承认whether表示的意思是对的）

如果是递进，应该是not only...but (also)..
but (also)就是很单纯的表转折啊。。
这道题。。。太纠结了。。
