一个关于现代分词作状语放在句尾修饰层次的问题

有这么一个句子
I can see his anger in his face every time he walks in the door, starting another painful day.

这个starting another painful day是正确的修饰了He walks in the door了么？还是修饰了I can see…这个主句？

如果是修饰了主句，如何更改才能使其正确表达其要表达的意思呢？

分词做伴随状语，修饰前面整句话，我又看见他脸上的愤怒了，又开始了噩梦的一天。

LS同学，刚刚我在老板语法笔记找到这么一句，part2 ,111题
Astronomers have uncovered evidence that a star as bright as the full moon exploded into view 340,000 years ago, emitting dazzling radiation that could have disrupted Earth's protective ozone layer and sunburned our Stone Age ancestors.
这句貌似分词状语emitting修饰的是that从句的部分

还是根据句意来吧，astronomers不会emit，关于原句的start到底是I还是he发出的，我理解是I，当然非要严格地讲估计得看上下文，没上下文我也没把握。同问。
