-破折号的修饰对象，GWD题目求教？

题目是：Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies—less than those killed by the bee stings.
A. movies—less than those
B. movies-fewer than have been
C. movies, which is less than those
D. movies, a number lower than the people
E. movies, fewer than the ones
答案是选E，我想问一下破折号后面的东西是修饰什么的？这里less than是修饰movies呢？还是修饰only seven？

但比较的是 people have been killed by great white shake 与 people killed by the bee stings

破折号的作用其实和逗号是一样的，只是破折号用来强调某一特殊的因素。这个题是prep里的题，答案是B。答案E中，使用过去时破坏了平行结构导致ones指代模糊。答案B中很多人会觉得要加those才对，其实是不用的，因为have been killed已经很好的表现出比较对象。
