答案是 E 大多数网友给出的解释是 those在这里指代的是人.double和twice后面都应该跟数字,这道题我的疑问是E选项中的句子在整个句子中做什么成分? 状语? 同位语? 独立主格?
再看第二道
The number of people flying first class on domestic flights rose sharply in 1990, doubling the increase of the the previous year.

A.
B. doubling that of the increase in
C. double as much as the increase of
D twice as many as the increase in
E. twice as many as the increase of
答案是A 我知道DE选项有一个错误就是many应该为much,increase是不可数的,但如果many 改成much ,E对不对?还有double 和twice 后面不是应该跟数字(number),跟increase也可以吗?
第二道题在Manhattan Gmat forum 中一位staff 给出这样的解释"in this case, you can't use "..., twice as many as...", because that's an appositive modifier. appositives must modify some noun that comes IMMEDIATELY before the comma, which in this case would have to be whatever figure is twice whatever other figure. since no such figure is given, you can't use this construction. " 后面他又给出解释"if you want, you can just memorize this an idiom, but "twice Y" / "X times Y" can definitely be used as an appositive."

他给出的解释我存在疑问, 他的意思是说twice as ... as , twice y, must modify some noun that comes IMMEDIATELY before the comma,依据他的解释判断第一道题
,答案就不是E了? 因为逗号前没有具体名词!
请大家帮帮忙! 给说说 twice 和double 有没有区别?
