The World Wild Fund has declared that global warming, a phenomenon most scientists agree to be caused by human beings in burning fossil fuels, will create havoc among migratory birds by altering the environment in ways harmful to their habitats.
A. a phenomenon most scientists agree to be caused by human beings in burning fossil fuels,
B. a phenomenon most scientists agree that is caused by fossil fuels burned by human beings,
C. a phenomenon that most scientists agree is caused by human beings' burning of fossil fuels,

问题1：C选项a phenomenon （that most scientists agree） is caused by human beings' burning of fossil fuels 作为global warming的同位语，但是同位语可以是一个句子吗？

例如：I met Jim, my brother, in the school. 正确
I met Jim, my brother is a student, in the school. 错误

孩子。。。你误解了，你说的C选项不是句子，就是一个词 a phenomenon。

不知道你有没有看语法笔记？里面说到有个东东叫夹心修饰。
a phenomenon that (most scientists agree) is caused by human beings' burning of fossil fuels,

其实括号里的东东就是夹心修饰。而真正的定语从句其实是that is caused by....

另外，同位语貌似不能是一个句子。。。。。

这个还真不是中学语法中的问题

英语中有种叫做嵌入关系句的句式说白了就是个插入语本题中的most scientist agree 就是这个插入语

例子 He has a girlfriend who he claims is sexy. 实际上就是 He has a girlfriend, and he claims that she is sexy.

如果是B选项的话，与C就完全不同了。that从句在这里有歧义，即可能做动词agree的宾语从句，而非现象的定语从句。

that作定语从句修饰先行词时要紧跟先行词，除了某些介词短语的特定场合之外，否则容易引起歧义。

另外，童鞋如果想详细了解夹心修饰，08版语法笔记里有很详细的记载，建议查阅。

ps，附上仅供个人参考的对B的理解。

B. a phenomenon most scientists agree that is caused by fossil fuels burned by human beings,

其实补全that，我觉得是：a phenomenon (that) most scientists agree that is caused by fossil fuels burned by human beings,

补全的括号that那句是定语从句，修饰现象，因为that在most scientists agree这句话里不做成分，故省去，但是咱暂且补上。那么括号that后面的从句是定语从句毫无疑问。关键就在第二个that。除个别情况外，一般的句子中，宾语从句里的that不做成分，只起到连接作用。而在这个句子中，第二个that是做的主语，那么显然不是宾语从句引导词。那么就只剩下做代词代指的可能性，那样的话这句话就完全不通了。。。。。。

另外，之所以不判断that为定语从句关系词，是因为，1，有可能误解为宾语从句关系词；2，离修饰词过远。

这道题只是把一个很idiomatic的用法打乱一下顺序，不懂这个语法点的人可能就会误会。我第一次做的时候也做错了。
