想请教一下大家the chemical irritant是什么句子成分呢？下面是OG说的，没看懂……
Choice E, which says attempt to metabolize, is best. The phrase the chemical irritant is also the most concise and precise conclusion for the sentence because it clearly refers to the dioxin mentioned earlier.

你看是不是这样的：

"are (the organism's attempt to metabolize)" 和 "render"并列，

然后是"render the chemical irritant harmless"

但是OG的解释看不懂啊……
