The Answer is D.

这里的in相当于for，表原因， 在…方面的意思。就是说college叛逆是因为决定接受男女学生。

A 、B its 1833 founding 没这么表达的

C、when it was founded in 1833 应该放在后面，而且表达复杂，可能是wordy and awkward（我不太会区分二者的区别，正在思考中，呵呵）

E by 没有表原因的意思，而且on the acceptance of 不如动词简洁

我觉得主要是考察Diction和Logical predication吧。
