were it to do so 是个倒装，说如果冰都融化了，后面是相应的结果。
这道题可以用其它方法排除，the temperatures are adj.和the ice cap is adj.并列从而引出so……that从句。所以就是B。

下一道是说minivan与sport utility vehicles相比的特点，由于前面已经有主语，所以可以排除BCE。D carrying on不对，所以A。 carry on 和cost，get，allow和have并列。
