Jean Toomer 的Cane 只是一个人写的 a Black American, 所以直接排除A 和B. “–“ 后的句子是要说出the three best novels 中的另外2本书, 只有E 答案是强调书名. C 和D 答案都是在强调另外2个作者,所以不对.

多谢，我理解是black americans算是泛指，就是说小说是个黑人写的，而不是强调是一个人写的，这有点不懂，名词的单复数问题。

名词单复数问题在这种一个人对应一个事物的情况下用复数会引起歧义，OG里面也有一些其他的例子在这样的情况下都是用单数的。如果用By Black Americans的话就有歧义，可以理解为这三本小说是由好几个人合写的。

OG里的其他例子：1）Three out of four automobile owners in the United States also own a bicycle.
2）Neanderthals had a vocal tract resembling an ape’s and so were probably without language, a shortcoming that may explain why they were supplanted by our own species.

去掉修饰语，补上省略词 novel，则为
one novel ever written by a Black American
这样就好理解了
