答案选E,但是我觉得句子强调的中心改变了。

E。 99 percent of the five hundred species是对的，其它没the或有them的都错，BC逻辑意思错了。好像living creatures appeared on earth is more than 500

希望楼主下次能把题目贴全。其实非划线部分也是做题很重要的部分，会有很多句意或是语法暗示的。

从句意可以看出，句意要强调的重心，是99%已经消失了。但A选项的主干句是这些动物曾经出现在地球上，而消失是作为一个伴随成分，所以句意不对。
