我觉得B, C 也可以， 从语法和句子结构上并没有错。 肯请各位大牛指教。

我怎么觉得bcde每个选项里都缺失了一部分愿意：

比如：E里少了in the scientific community ，这种非累赘语言的缺失在GMAT中是很少见的。

B不对, 没有表达出wide expectation中的wide的意思; C也不对, as可以表示原因, 引导原因状语从句, 无法体现原句的being的"正在进行"的感觉.

这题出的有点怪, 不过出题人可能意图是要大家把握逻辑意思吧.

另外， (E) 也没有体现原句的现在时呀?

Anyway, 这只是一道举例题 in the Priceton review, 可能这道题本身有缺陷吧。

E用的是with的伴随结构, 这个是可以表示两个发生是在一起的感觉.
