“It is unrealistic to expect individual nations to make, independently, the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy. International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources for future generations.”3次

Is it possible for an individual nation to make the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy independently? Different people hold different views due to different angle of views. On the one hand, as is well know and has always been advocated that an individual nation can conserve energy by its own effort,on the other hand, nothing can be achieved by one’s own effort, international leadership and worldwide cooperation also play an important role in conserving energy. My view is that one nation can not achive the goal to conserve energy without international cooperation.

In the first place, the most important reason of my point is that team work stimulate more pratical ideas about how to conserve energy. For example, the group of researchers and scientists would gather together and discuss the solution which will appears to be more efficient. If the scientists of one nation do the research about energy reservation alone, the limitation of the information will hamper the progress of their reserch. While, through effective cooperation, scientists of one nation could share information and scientific reserch results with those of another nation.

For instance, if one nation is trying tremendous efforts, such as conducting scientific research and educating it’s citizens to save resource, while another nation doesn’t make any regulation about the resource conservation and its citizen are wasting and depleting the resource, the goal to conserve the world’s energy for the next generation will be difficult to achieve.

 In addition, there is another reason for me to choose the statement that world cooperation is indispensable. However, this alone does not constitute a sufficient support that international leadership and cooperation are unnecessary. When the advantage and disadvange of conserving energy through international cooperation are carefully compared, the conclusion is obvious.

 In conclusion, this issue is complex and controversial one. There are no easy or certain answers. Thousand individuals may possesses thousand views. In my view, international leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources for future generations

The arguer points out that improvements in a firm’s information technology hardware and software are a proven way to increase the efficiency of employees. In addition, the arguer reasons that the more efficient a firm’s employees are, the more profitable that firm will be. At first glance, this argument appears to be somehow appealing, while a close examination will reveal how groundless it is. The argument is problematic for the following reasons.

It is likely that the firm which increase the efficiency of its employees experience a dramatic financial crisis, it is also likely that, although the firm’s employees are efficient, the cost of production is extremely, in these two situations, it is difficult for the firm to achieve a higher profit . Thus, the argument is entirely unwarranted without ruling out such possiblity.

In the second place, the arguer assumes that  because improvement in information techonology hardware and software could help increase the efficiency of employees who do the majority of work on computer, the efficiency of employees in our firm would be maximized, if we invest in the most powerful and advanced information technology available. However, the arguer doesn’t show that what kind of business does our firm deal with. It is likely that our firm is an automobile repair factory which relies primarily on manual work but not work on computer. In fact, in face of such limited evidence, the claim that our firm can increase efficiency by investing in informaiton technology cannot be accepted.

In the third place, the information cited in the argument is too vague. The arguer assumes the background situations remain the same at different time or different location. It is possible that firms could increase profitabilty by enchancing the efficiency of  the employees in 5 years ago during the first stage of ecomonic revival, now every firm has advanced information technology hardware and software, more invest will become waste of resource. This argument is completely unwarrented without pointing out the situation. 

In conlusion, the arguer fails to substantiate his claim that enhanced information technology will help to increase our firm’s profit margins. Because the evidence cited in the argument does not lend strong support to the conclution. To strenthen the argument,  the arguer must provide more precise information about the background of our firm or the general financial situation.
