本人情况：美国居民，美国一般学校毕业GPA3.88, 4年中型CPA firm工作经验，CPA , GMAT 1战 650 (M45, V34, Writing5.5) 2战 710(M50, V36, Writing 4,Writing 只有18%,)

我想请教大家,听说2010竞争很大,申请NYU的 full-time MBA admit机会高吗?NYC附近有其他好的MBA其他吗?为什么?

GPA is good. 710 is good. 4.0 writing is fine, don't worry. MBAs like to accept accountants and put them into different groups because they have strong fundamental skills in finance/accounting. However, competition will be tough... you are an Asian male in finance/accounting so there are thousands of applicants like you [and me].

NYU, Columbia, Yale (2 hours from NYC), Wharton (2 hours from NYC)... that's about it. Your background you should aim for top 15... maybe with 1-2 top 25 as back up.

You will need an interesting story. Schools definitely don't like to read boring essays from accountants, IT, bankers etc.

distance to NYC seems an important factor to you.
Are you targeting a job in NYC?

Thank you for your information, thecow10000. I agree that the essay is very important, however, I have no idea how to make an essay interesting. Do you know where I can have some references? Maybe you can share your application experience with me together. Are you in US also?

To Jelty, I want to stay near nyc in order to stay close to my families.

Brother I'm in the same shoes... I think you have a good chance for getting into all these schools. Philly is kind of far away though (2 hours driving). For NYU and Columbia, make sure you visit the schools so you can feel the difference - will help you write your essays.

blueT, how should I visit those schools? Should I find a chance to talk to some professor or students? or should I attend some events? or just take a walk in the campus? If I need to contact someone to know more about the college, how and where I can contact these people? Thanks!
