I got a call from a professor from UT Austin in July (because I emailed him with my CV to ask if he needed a RA and he was a Chinese professor). I thought my CV was impressive for him and he called to check my background (I mentioned I want to apply for Finance PhD program at Austin in my email), and he was like making a interview in the call. I found he kept asking me if I had work experience in Finance Market and said chinese students like me were not familiar with how financial market works and that is a seriously weak aspect. I told him that I had chosen several Math courses, but I did not think he really cared about that. My point is that Math may be not that important. |
