求教一个关于比较结构的题目（实在想不通了）

an ancient civilization (that flourished at the same time) as the civilizations (in the Nile delta and the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates)

that flourished at the same time 是修饰CIVILIZATION的

原题ls的已经用红色表示的很清楚了 并列的是2个civilization 名词并列名词 

Dirt roads cost twice as much to maintain as paved roads do.

下面的例子用了do因为并列的是2个动作 相当于as paved roads cost

the site of ....整个是同位语，从that开始是 the site of an ancient civilization 的定语从句，对么？如果是这样的话，
    

那比较就发生在从句里面啊，that flourished at the same time as the civilizations in Nile.

那这个结构和这句A cost twice as much as to maintain as B do更加像啊...
    

从that开始 是an ancient civilization的定语从句 而不是the site的

比较是发生在从句里面，比较的是that和后面的civilization in the Nile Delta...而that就是指代了先行词an ancient civilization

既然是that 和civilizations比,那么结构就是

A flourished at the same time as B.

A cost twice as much as B do.

这两句结构不是很像么？为什么第一句就不需要did,第二句就需要do?

1.主+不及物或者主系表结构（主+BE+ADJ)，因为只有一个名词，这种情况下可补也可不补谓语，比较对象只可能是主句的单个名词。--注意，补了也不算错，除非两个句子完全一样，一个补一个不补的时候选不补的。

2.主+谓+宾，补谓语是主语比较，不补是宾语比较。

3.主+谓+宾+介宾，补谓语是主语比较，不补（一般错，跳跃比较容易有歧义，换其他方式表达），补介宾是介词宾语比较。

特殊情况：比较是在从句的范围内的比较或者主句范围下的比较，从/主句中只有一个名词，因为没歧义，都不需要补谓语。--如你举的例子。
