请问大全404题LZM对于TWICE用法的解释，好奇怪…
题目如下：
1. In the 1980’s the rate of increase of the minority population of the United States was nearly twice as fast as the 1970’s.
(A) twice as fast as
(B) twice as fast as it was in
(C) twice what it was in
(D) two times faster than that of
(E) two times greater than
答案是C，没有问题，因为不能用fast 去形容rate
想问大家的是，LZM在 p.182 说twice只能用在数量上的双倍，例如 twice as much as , 但是不可以用在其它形容词或是副词的翻倍，例如twice as rapidly as
请问这是真的吗？如果改成two times 可以吗？因为常常会看到 four times as likely as 的句子很疑惑啊，

TWICE的意思是：
two times more, bigger, better etc than something else
an area twice the size of Britain
相当于：
an area two times more than the size of Britain

如果改为
two times as high as what it was in
我想应该可以吧。

不过小弟还是有疑惑，就是LZM的说法是正确的吗？（TWICE不能修饰much以外的形容词）

可以修饰much以外的形容词：
Interest rates are twice as high as those of our competitors.

整句简化一下就是：In the 1980's the rate....... was twice what the rate was in the 1970's

这样理解对不对？

twice 的用法:

twice as many,,,,,, as, twice as much ,,,,,as, twice+the +n, twice+what

agree on C. but what is was is not perfect. There is one sentence in og11 mentioned that "what is was" is awkward. But there is no other better choice.
