I am doing an MBA at Wharton straight after graduating from college. Not every school accepts college seniors into their MBA programmes- but some do. You'll have to do your own research and find out which, because schools change their requirements from time to time.

I would suggest that you first focus on what kind of career you want. Once you know that, then you start thinking about what's the best way to get there. For some career paths, an MBA may not be necessary, or may not make sense at this point of your career (straight after college). For others it might.

Business schools tend to suggest that their students have an average of >0 years of work experience exactly because for most people, it tends to take a few years before they decide that they are embarking on a career for which an MBA makes sense. Most also decide that the MBA can help them build upon the professional knowledge they'd already gained from working for a few years beforehand. In that sense, the MBA is not a regular masters degree- one doesn't get in on just good grades alone, and the aim of the MBA is often to supplement, rather than to substitute for, existing knowledge to help one's career.

Since you're only in your first year in college, I would suggest that you think about what potential career seems interesting to you, and then better explore your choices by pursuing internships in the career that interests you. In addition, I would also explore involving yourself in clubs in school- while most people don't start managing others at work until a few years into their jobs, many forget that the same leadership, problem-solving and other important skills can also be honed via involvement in clubs, and leading others around you to a common goal. Most of my classmates who are doing their MBA straight after college had significant leadership experience during their undergraduate years.

Hope this helps! Good luck!
