While trying to decide on b school offers, I recently looked into some criteria of b school ranking, and found that the method of taking students' opinion toward their MBA program as an important part of school ranking(like BW does) is very interesting. Because, who would give bad comments on their own b schools, if they know their opinion would negatively impact their b school's name, and hence negatively impact their own personal career prospect? If they say bad things about their school, well, the school is likely to be ranked lower, and then they as the products of the school will inevitably get inferior perception... Since the students' future is well connected with the schools' reputation, I doubt there's people who risk their own future, telling BusinessWeek people why their school should be ranked lower. Anyone has the same feeling? (I think that's the same reason that all alumni are passionate about their school, because they are just connected with the school once they enrolled, and long after they graduate. Yes, they love their school, and they also just have the incentive to help the school rank higher.) |
