(B) its many problems has been the recently

(C) its many problems is the recently

(D) their many problems is the recent

答案是A，查了字典，这个recent是adj，但是extended也是，修饰形容词的应该是副词才对，怎么这用recent呢？

再看以下的例子

195. Dr. Tonegawa won the Nobel Prize for discovering how the body can constantly change its genes to fashion a seeming unlimited number of antibodies. each specifically targeted at an invading microbe or foreign substance.

(A)  seeming unlimited number of antibodies, each specifically targeted at

答案是E，seemingly 是副词，修饰形容词unlimited，两个题目不是有一点矛盾么？

按照og解释，recent实际是修饰slump的，而不是extended。

195. recently是修饰unlimited的。

多别扭啊，所以应该是看似无穷的数。。。

【第二題】
根據manhattan所說的兩種phrasing，
（1）使用seeming作為adjective時，修飾的是number。看似number，cannot logically make sense.
（2）使用seemingly作為adverb時，修飾的說unlimited。看似數不盡，logically make sense。

【第一題，有點不太sure。歡迎attack!!】
我覺得modifiers的使用，根本在於要reflect the author's intent.
根據句子意思，由於女裝的sales slump，因而才要liquidation sale的。重點在於sales slump!!
所以，當兩種phrasing（recent/recently）都logically make sense的情況下，優先修飾author's main intention，即sales slump。
所以是recent extended sales slump。
