题目 005.    A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.

    When it refers to building a large factory near my community, people's opinions are divergent on such issue. The overwhelming majority would support that the advantages are superior to the disadvantages, others, however, have the contrast attitude. As far as I am concerned, the new factory would make the positive influences , such as increasing the income of our community, providing more jobs and producing opportunities for other industries, rather than the negative ones.

     The most obvious benefit of the new-build factory might be the money. The owners of the factory would pay for the land, the water and the electricity to make the machines to work. And the tax that they give to the government could be used in many ways that benefit the whole community. For instance, the government may spend the tax on improving the road condition, repairing the old buildings or building new hospitals and schools. These actions, from my point of view, do give the residents valuable profits.

     Besides the money, the large number of jobs that the new factory might offer is also significant to our community. It is said, many young people in the area could not find the pleasant jobs after graduated from universities or high schools. There is no doubt that the new factory would release the pressure as it needs people to control the machines, to manage some departments and to research for new technology.

     The last advantage, which might be the most vital one, is that it can promote the whole economic development in this area. As mentioned above, increasing number of people would come to work or even live in the community, and they need places to relax and consume in their spare time. Restaurants, hotels, bars and cinemas are the pleasurable choices. And the enhanced numbers and quality of these services in turn provide more opportunities for work and attract other people to work here.

     Seldom do I deny that the factory would also lead to some unpleasant impacts, such as pollution, noise and the traffic congestion. But, from my point of view, the effective communication between the managers and governors and the well organizing of the related departments would solve the problems that might occur.

     From both of the positive and negative impacts that mentioned above, it is not difficulty for us to draw the conclusion that the building of new factory would take us much more advantages.
