这个then到底怎么回事呢，A没有连词，不能并列，真晕啊

A里面，then引起的不是一个句子，而且then前面有逗号，因此不存在必须使用and的情况。而D把原文的意思换了。一己之见，请NN指点。

题目中putting就不是一个句子。所谓句子就是要有至少一套主谓结构。do A and then do B，这时候and确实不能省略，因为连词可以连接两个句子而副词不可以。但题目中并不是要连接两个句子啊。saved sth by putting sth,then installing sth。putting sth和installing sth都是save的状语。逗号起了连接作用，把两个状语连起来，而副词then表示时间的先后

逗号这种连接是不对的，应该用连词and，不能单纯用逗号链接，即使是连接两个短语或者其他结构也应该用and then吧？而且如果是并列的话，那么by可以省略吗？

1、为什么这里用逗号连接不对呢？

2、putting sth 和installing sth在这里不是并列，是承接吧？

看了一下，她在二楼的说法是installing是一个分词短语在句尾的用法。但是分词在句尾要么是表伴随结果，要么就是表伴随动作、状态等等，用来做状语。installing显然不是伴随结果。那么就应该是分词短语作状语修饰谓语saved，而不是她所说的修饰putting。

所以她的意思我还是没弄懂。

另外“分词片语”好像不是咱们大陆的说法。
