大全844

844.The use of gravity waves, which do not interact with matter in the way electromagnetic waves do, hopefully will enable astronomers to study the actual formation of black holes and neutron stars.

(A) in the way electromagnetic waves do, hopefully will enable

(B) in the way electromagnetic waves do, will, it is hoped, enable

(C) like electromagnetic waves, hopefully will enable

(D) like electromagnetic waves, would enable, hopefullyB

(E) such as electromagnetic waves do, will, it is hoped, enable

请问为什么不能选A,字典里解释说=a way of saying what you hope will happen, which some people think is incorrect

而且一个词比一个it is hoped句子简单啊,点解?

No exact reason concerning why "hopefully" is routinely rejected by ETS. Common sense says that "hopefully" is a colloquial word and thus is not appropriate to  appear in written English.  Some other suggests that hopefully needs a subtle and implicit logic subject.

So remember this absurd ETS rule that "it is hoped" is a better usage than is "hopefully" in written form.

hopefully-

2 : it is hoped : I hope : we hope
usage In the early 1960s the second sense of hopefully, which had been in sporadic use since around 1932, underwent a surge of popular use. A surge of popular criticism followed in reaction, but the criticism took no account of the grammar of adverbs. Hopefully in its second sense is a member of a class of adverbs known as disjuncts. Disjuncts serve as a means by which the author or speaker can comment directly to the reader or hearer usually on the content of the sentence to which they are attached. Many other adverbs (as interestingly, frankly, clearly, luckily, unfortunately) are similarly used; most are so ordinary as to excite no comment or interest whatsoever. The second sense of hopefully is entirely standard.

按照这个2者皆可 但语意似乎B正确一点,表示更加客观一点. 其实正式语题中2者都有人用. 碰上这种问题就考运气了

追加一个问题:

本题E为什么错我知道,但as A do 的形式,前面是不是一定不可以加such?还是加不加无所谓?

such as + n./doing/what从句  (对)

such as + SVO  (错)

其实你可以通过查询功能查找“such as”就能得到NN们的解释了。

其实hopefullyit is hoped都是正确的使用方式,但是它们摆放的位置有很大的不同,如果选A的话,则The use of gravity waves hopefully will enable应该修饰的是The use of gravity waves,而不是后面的动作enable,如果想修饰的话,可以改为The use of gravity waves will hopefully enable或是hopefully, the use of gravity waves will enable这两种方式,而B恰恰做到了这一点(修饰enable这个动作),用了一个插入语,完整地表达了文章的意思。
