正确答案是E. 请问为何(A)不对，不可以把that of earlier generations 和 a goal of a majority of our adults比较吗？还是因为like不能放在句尾？

A的问题，like sth放在句尾应该没问题，但其比较的对象是句子的主语，也就是owning and living in a * house，而不是楼主您所说的a majority of young adults。知道了谁是比较对象，那么比较对象不合理的问题就显而易见了。而E，是owning is a goal of adults 和 it was (省略)of e g来比，是合理的。
我覺得A沒有不對 , like 後面接 名詞或名詞片語是可接受的 但是E最好,句子和句子比 ,最對稱完整 owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land is still a goal of a majority of young adults , as (owning and living) was (a goal) of earlier generations.
请问一下虽然是句子和句子比 ,最對稱完整。 但是我常常看到当like在句头的时候，经常不是和后面的平行结构。 unlike those in the U.S., japanese unions appear reluctant to organize. 这里phrase || clause，是不是不太consistent？ 是不是在句尾才是required?
