郎文: as due is an adjective, due to should really be used only after nouns. e.g. his absence was due to the storm. his illness was due to bad food.
although it is now often used after verbs as well (in sentences like He arrived late due to the storm) teachers prefer owing to or because of in these cases.
"due to teh fact" can be followed by a clause, eg. Due to the fact that there r too many ambushes in Iraq, Bush had only stayed there for 3 hours. Haaaaa, isn't the word "ambush" funny?
