OG 10-251 的疑问

问题在E，og的解释是Choices D and E wrongly use a phrase introduced by now with to modify The gyrfalcon.

在这一句话里我不是很明白，本来就是the gyrfalcon with the numbers，数量是gyrfalcon的数量，为什么错了？（也就是说now with引导的部分修饰主语the gyrfalcon错在哪里）

嗷...我没表达清楚。先把E代入原句：

The gyrfalcon, an Arctic bird of prey, has survived a close brush with extinction, now with numbers five times greater than when the use of DDT was sharply restricted in the early 1970’s.

对于上面这个句子，OG的解释是：Choices  E wrongly use a phrase introduced by now with to modify The gyrfalcon.

就看上面这个句子，用with numbers来修饰gyrfalcon错在哪里呢？逻辑上不通吗？

gyrfalcon with numbers five times greater than，这个我总觉得是可以这么表达的...

with应该是修饰歧义了，可能修饰gyrfalcon也可能修饰extiction.

至于gyrfalcon with numbers...我认为gyrfalcon with numbers这三个词组成的一个fragment能够逻辑上成立语法上成立就说明了with可以修饰gyrfalcon了，以前对于指代的题目我都是这样子判断的，虽然放到句子里面是不行的。（不知道这个判断方法对不对）

看了紫本OG11的解释让我恍然大悟了，它对OG10的解释进行了大修改。

with短语隔一个逗号前面如果是个名词，也是需要在前面修饰的名词逻辑上不能被修饰才能跳过去当作独立主格，修饰动词或者说subject的。

而这里E的歧义在于，with结构可能会去修饰extinction.

关于OG10里面的说什么可能会跟with extinction并列，个人感觉有点扯蛋，并列是一定要有名词的！

另外可以看一下下面这个题目，with前面是名词，但是还是跳跃修饰动词，with结构做状语的例子：

OG 11-78 Visitors to the park have often looked up into the leafy canopy and saw monkeys sleeping on the branches, whose arms and legs hang like socks on a clothesline.

(A) saw monkeys sleeping on the branches, whose arms and legs hang

(B) saw monkeys sleeping on the branches, whose arms and legs were hanging

这个题里，branch是没有arms和legs的，所以一定是跳跃修饰sleeping或者说monkeys的。
